Our Programs
Emergency Educational Assistance
Planned rapid-response mini-grants of $50 to $5,000 to cover urgent needs that would otherwise keep a student out of school.

Emergency funds are planned to support:
- School supplies
- Clothing and uniforms
- Testing fees
- Transportation
- Utility help that threatens school stability
Goal: Fewer students missing school because of a short-term crisis.
The need this program addresses
Sometimes the barrier is small but urgent: a pair of shoes, a uniform, a testing fee, a utility bill. For a family in crisis, a modest expense at the wrong moment can mean a student stops showing up to class.
Who this program serves
Homeless and underprivileged K-12 and college-bound students in Spartanburg County facing an urgent, specific expense that threatens their attendance or enrollment.
Where this program stands today
Emergency educational assistance is part of our first-year launch plan alongside the Scholarship Fund. We are establishing the fund and the request process; mini-grants are not being awarded yet.
Ask about eligibility or availability
Counselors, shelter staff, and families can tell us about an urgent need through the Get Help page so we can follow up as the fund opens and, where possible, refer you to immediate help.
Get HelpHelp make this program happen
Donors can give to the emergency fund — small gifts make a direct difference here. Businesses can sponsor the fund or contribute supplies, clothing, and gift cards.
